What is your reservation policy?
Reservations are guaranteed with a credit, debit card or deposit cheque. We ask for a non refundable deposit of the first nights stay. In the case of a group or family booking for more than one night the card holder will be responsible for the whole booking.

We need 7 days notice to cancel the booking.
Reservations made within a week of arrival must give 24hrs notice or we will retain the deposit. We would naturally try to re sell the room in which case we would refund the deposit. We always suggest our guests take out holiday insurance.
What are your check in times?
You may check in between 8am and 8pm.Later by arrangement,please be aware we are a small guesthouse and do not have 24 hr reception.Let us know when you are arriving in York and we will be here to welcome you.On the odd occasion when we are unable to recieve you personally we have a keypad at the front door and you can self checkin at your convenience.
When should we depart?
Guests are requested to depart around 10am. We can arrange to store luggage for you if you have travelled by train or bus.You may leave you car if we have no early arrivals needing the space.Please ask at breakfast.
Do you provide car parking?
We have 3 parking bays opposite the Cavalier on the cobbles under the trees.You need a numbered permit from us which must be clearly displayed.
We also have 3 garages at the end of Agar St.across the road from the Cavalier.There is a tight left hand turn at the top of the road to access the row of 10 garages.This makes them only suitable for medium to small cars.Our garages are numbers 1,2 and 8.
What kind of breakfast do you serve?
Our Full Yorkshire breakfast is cooked to order.A small buffet provides a choice of fruits,yoghurts,cereals,juices etc. Most diets can be catered for with prior warning.
Do you cater for children?
Children are always welcome,please don't leave your child unattended in the rooms and make sure they are supervised in the bathrooms and on the stairs.
Do you allow pets?
We are unfortunately only able to accommodate guide or hearing dogs.
What is your smoking policy?
As per the Government guidelines it is an offence to smoke in public so our premises are a smoke free area. You may be charged £50 from your card for cleaning if have been smoking in our bedrooms
What equipment do you provide?
We provide a high chair and travel cot for babies and toddlers.Hairdryers in all rooms,straightners on request.A small fridge can be placed in your room if requested.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
We can provide gift vouchers towards a visit to The Cavalier for you to give as Birthday or Christmas presents.
What time should we return at night?
We lock the front door at 9-10pm but give you a front door key for both inner and outer doors on arrival.We also have a keypad outside incase you are locked out.Please call us on 01904 636615 for the current code number.If you are returning late please respect other guests may be sleeping and be as quiet as you can, thank you.
What are your fire regulations?
We have a new fire alarm system so do make yourselves aware of our instructions on your arrival.
